Prof. Christhard Gössling

Prof. Christhard Gössling was born in Westphalia. At the age of 13 he began to study trombone as a junior student with Prof. Willy Walther at the Detmold Musikakademie. At the age of 21 Christhard Gössling became solo trombonist in the Gürzenich Orchestra in Cologne, and in 1984 he became solo trombonist in the Berlin Philharmonic. From 1992-98 he was on the board of the Berlin Philharmonic as well as a member of the advisory board of the Salzburg Osterfestspiele. He plays in several brass ensembles. Christhard Gössling taught from 1985 as a tutor at the Herbert von Karajan Foundation in Berlin, and from 1995 as guest professor at the Academy of Music Hanns Eisler Berlin. In 2000 he was appointed Professor of Trombone at the Academy and was the Director of the Academy from summer semester 2000 to inclusively winter semester 2007/2008.
