Prof. Judy Niemack-Prins was born in Pasadena, California. At the age of seven she began performing in a church choir and sang during her school years in various vocal groups such as chamber choir, madrigal choir, musicals, folk and rock bands and in a vocal jazz quartet. At the age of 17 she began studying classical singing, alongside her career, at the Pasadena City College and the New England Conservatory in Boston, and attended opera workshops at the Cleveland Institute of Music. Her teachers were Warne Marsh and Primo Lino Pulcinelli. In 1977 Judy Niemack moved to New York as a jazz singer. One year later, major performances, recordings and tours throughout the USA with renowned orchestras and musicians such as Dave Brubeck, Ray Drummond and Kirk Nurock followed. Her international career began in 1982 with an appearance at the jazz festival in Pisa. Since then she has been heard at numerous international concerts and festivals. As a teacher, Judy Niemack has given workshops and lessons at the New School for Jazz in New York and was tutor at the William Patterson University in New Jersey, Purchase University, Long Island University and the New York College. In connection with her international tours she has given many masterclasses. Since 1993 she has taught in the jazz faculty of the Royal Conservatories in Antwerp and The Hague and became professor of jazz singing at the Brussels Conservatory in 1994. In 1995 Judy Niemack was appointed professor at the Academy of Music "Hanns Eisler" Berlin, being the first Professor of Jazz Singing in Germany.
