Prof. Kristin Guttenberg was born in Tegernsee in 1972. First music lessons at the age of five. 1992-1995 trained as physiotherapist at the Universitätsklinikum Freiburg, 1998-2001 studied health education at the University of Applied Sciences FH Munich. Additional training in contemporary dance, physical theatre, performance, experimental voice and manual and rehabilitative therapy forms, as well as in modern and traditional methods of working with the body and in somatic learning. She is a founder member of the Kurt Singer Institute for Musicians’ Health, founded in 2002 by the Academy of Music Hanns Eisler Berlin and the University of the Arts Berlin, she lectures and teaches at various performing arts institutions and music academies and works with numerous musicians, dancers and performers in private practice. Her work includes physical, mental and performance training, stress management, performance analysis and retraining in cases of artistic-physical or medical indication. From 2001-2008 freelance teacher for musico-physiological subjects at the Academy of Music Hanns Eisler Berlin and the University of the Arts Berlin, now Kurt Singer Institute for Musicians’ Health, as well as from 2007 Physical Coach for the courses in contemporary dance and choreography at the Dance Centre run jointly by the University of the Arts Berlin and the Ernst Busch Academy of Dramatic Art. Since 2008 Kristin Guttenberg holds a guest professorship in music physiology at the Kurt Singer Institute for Musicians’ Health.
