
Prof. Rainer Seegers studied percussion and timpani with Albert Schober in the junior depertment of the Academy of Music and Theatre in Hanover. 1973-1977 studied school music with percussion as first instrument. Worked as auxiliary percussionist at the Hanover State Opera. Principal percussionist at the Braunschweig State Theatre and from 1979 in the Cologne Radio Symphony Orchestra. 1977-1982 member of the Bayreuth Festival Orchestra. Since 1986 member of the Berlin Philharmonic. Taught in masterclasses and in the Orchestral Academy of the Berlin Philharmonic. Since 2000 guest professor for timpani/ percussion at the Academy of Music Hanns Eisler Berlin.
