
Sebastian Noack-Kamphues was born in Berlin. From 1989 studied first music education, from 1992 vocal studies with Prof. Dietmar Hackel and Prof. Ingrid Figur at the Academy of the Arts Berlin, where he graduated in singing. Master student of KS Prof. Dr. hc mult. Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau and Aribert Reimann, masterclasses with Peter Stein. Bayreuth scholarship from the Richard Wagner Association in Vienna and a scholarship from the Villa Musica Rheinland-Pfalz. Various awards, including the German Federal Singing Competition Berlin, Paula Lindberg Salomon competition “Das Lied“ and The Wigmore Hall/Kohn Foundation International Song Competition. Concert appearances include “Ein deutsches Requiem“ by Johannes Brahms, “L’Enfance du Christ“ by Hector Berlioz, Felix Mendellsohn Bartholdy’s “Die erste Walpurgisnacht“, “Requiem“ by Gabriel Fauré, B Minor Mass, the Christmas Oratorio, the Matthew Passion, the John Passion and the cantatas of Johann Sebastian Bach. Conductors with whom he has performed include Christoph Eschenbach, Semyon Bychkov, Johannes Debus, Martin Alsop, Kirill Petrenko, Helmuth Rilling, Philippe Herreweghe and Gustav Leonhardt. Participated in festivals, e.g. Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival, Rheingau Music Festival, Herrenchiemsee Festspiele, Festival de Saintes, Jerusalem International Chamber Music Festival, Oregon Bach Festival, Boston Early Music Festival, Brühler Schlosskonzerte and Schubertiade Schwarzenberg. Appeared with well-known orchestras, baroque orchestras and chamber music ensembles, including the Radio Symphony Orchestras of the NDR, WDR, BR, SWR and SR, the Scharoun Ensemble, the Bamberger Symphony, the Konzerthaus Orchestra Berlin, the Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin. Co-founder of the recital series “Meisterlied“ in the Berlin Musical Instrument Museum, lieder recitals with songs by Gustav Mahler. Numerous operatic roles, including in Gaetano Donizetti’s “Viva la Mamma“, Wolfram von Eschenbach in Richard Wagner’s “Tannhäuser“ at the Halle Opera House under Karl-Heinz Steffens, Kurwenal in Richard Wagner’s “Tristan und Isolde“ at the Deutsches Nationaltheater and Staatskapelle Weimar and at the Deutsche Oper Berlin under Donald Runnicles. Various CD recordings, including the John Passion, Leipzig Christmas Cantatas and the opera “Siroe“ by George Frederick Handel, as well as numerous radio broadcasts. Appointed visiting professor of voice at the Academy of Music Hanns Eisler Berlin from the winter semester 2011/2012.
