| Entrance Requirements | Outstanding artistic talent needs to be proved at the entrance examination. Non-German applicants without a higher education entrance qualification (Abitur) need to have some knowledge of the German language. Required are: 1. The language certificate from the Goethe Institute at the level of B.2.2. of the Common European Framework of Reference. The language certificate has to be submitted at the entrance examination at the latest. 2. In the theoretical subjects of the entrance examination applicants need to prove their musical knowledge in German. |

| Major Subject Voice | Requirements: - two arias and two songs of different style, character, language and epoch, performed by heart - for applicants older than 22 an aria by Bach or Händel is obligatory - for international applicants one piece performed in German is obligatory - one recital (dramatic or prose, no religious works and no poems) to show artistic performance abilities (performed by heart) in German The commission is entitled to demand further artistic, musical and linguistic abilities/prerequisites Preselection: Depending on the quantity of applicants the preselections takes place on one or more days. The canidate sings a piece of his/her own choice at a notified date. Additional works can be performed as well if the commission agrees. The commission is entitled to interrupt and end a performance. Technical excersises can be demanded. The preselection commission is entitled to demand further artistic, musical and linguistic abilities/prerequisites. If requested, a conversation with suggestions on the individual's artistic performance for the preparation of coming exams/auditions can be offered. The Entrance Examination: In the entrance examination the commission choses two pieces for the candidate to sing. The commission is entitled to interrupt and end a performance. In the entrance examination the recital (dramatic or prose, no religious works and no poems) is to be performed by heart and only in German. The commission is entitled to demand further artistic, musical and linguistic abilities/prerequisites. |
