Prof. Ralf Forster

Ralf Forster was born in Munich in 1970. 1987-1997 studied chamber music with Prof. Karl Kolbinger, 1990-1995 clarinet studies with Prof. Gerd Starke at the Munich University of Music, 1995-1997 master student of Prof. Karl-Heinz Steffens and Prof. Gerd Starke, 1997 diploma in master studies. Numerous prizes and awards including first prize in the 1994 German University Competition, second prize in the 1995 International Chamber Music Competition in Kerkrade, and a sponsorship prize from the 1996 Carl Maria von Weber competition in Munich. 1987-1997 member of the Munich Wind Quintet. 1996-1998 principal Eb-clarinettist with the Konzerthausorchester Berlin, since 1998 principal clarinettist. Deputy in various orchestras such as the Berlin Philharmonic, the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin, Rundfunk-Sinfonieorchester Berlin, Staatskapelle Berlin, Deutsche Oper Berlin, Bamberg Symphony orchestra, Bavarian State Opera Munich and the Munich Philharmonic. Chamber music performances as part of the Konzerthausorchester Berlin’s series of chamber music concerts and with the Scharoun Ensemble Berlin. Solo appearances with the Konzerthausorchester Berlin. Teaches clarinet at the specialist music school Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach Berlin and at the Festivalensemble Stuttgart. Since 1997 freelance tutor at the Academy of Music Hanns Eisler Berlin, guest professorship there since 2008.
