Prof. Troels Svane

Prof. Troels Svane studied cello with Prof. David Geringas at the Lübeck Academy of Music. Lessons with Anner Bylsma, Prof. Frans Helmerson, Ralph Kirshbaum, György Ligeti, Yo-Yo Ma, Siegfried Palm, Prof. Boris Pergamentchikov, Mstislav Rostropovich, Daniil Shafran, Paul Tortelier and the Amadeus Quartet. At the age of 18 deputy principal cellist of the Copenhagen Philharmonic. Numerous scholarships, national and international prizes.
Performed as soloist with orchestras from Denmark, Germany, Britain, the Netherlands, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Sweden and Switzerland. Appearances in recitals, as a member of the Copenhagen Piano Trio and the Menuhin Festival Piano Quartet in Europe, Australia, Asia, South America and in the USA. Concerts with e.g. Yuri Bashmet, Thomas Brandis, Zakhar Bron, Ulf Hoelscher, Karl Leister and the Zehetmair Quartet. More than 40 CD recordings, including the complete works for cello and piano by Beethoven, Sergei Wassiljewitsch Rachmaninow and Max Reger. Assisted Prof. David Geringas for 11 years, thereafter from 2004 Professor for Cello at the Lübeck Academy of Music. Jury member in competitions and tutor for master courses in Australia, Asia, South America and Europe. Freelance tutor for cello at the Academy of Music Hanns Eisler Berlin, from October 2008 guest professor.
