Prof. Wolfram Rieger

Prof. Wolfram Rieger was born in Waldsassen in Bavaria. First piano lessons with his parents and with Konrad Pfeiffer in Regensburg. Thereafter studied with Prof. Dr. Erik Werba and Prof. Helmut Deutsch at the Academy of Music in Munich. Masterclasses with Elisabeth Schwarzkopf, Prof. Hans Hotter and Prof. Dr. Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau. Wolfram Rieger’s international concert career has taken him to almost every part of the world. Longtime accompanist for Brigitte Fassbaender, Juliane Banse, Barbara Bonney, Anja Harteros, Annette Dasch, Thomas Hampson, Olaf Bär, Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau, Matthias Goerne, Christoph Prégardien, Thomas Quasthoff, Peter Schreier, Michael Schade and chamber music partner of the Cherubini Quartet, the Petersen Quartet and the Vogler Quartet. Regular guest at international music centres and music festivals as well as courses in interpretation in Europe and Japan. Many of his numerous CD recordings for different labels received prizes and awards. He holds the medal of honour of the Franz Schubert Society of Barcelona. While still a student he accompanied the Lieder class and a few years later led his own Lieder class at the Academy of Music in Munich. Since 1998 Wolfram Rieger has been Professor of Lieder Interpretation at the Academy of Music Hanns Eisler Berlin.
