Professional development program for choir conductors
Hanns Eisler School of Music Berlin in partnership with Deutscher Chorverband is offering a professional development program for choir conductors directed by Prof. Jörg-Peter Weigle.
The content of the course addresses the required flexibility in conducting technique and rehearsal methodology for application to a given interpretation, as well as the study of works of various stylistic directions in the so-called classical choir music for mixed choirs. Included are lessons in conducting technique, rehearsal practice, intonation work and stylistics. The given works are announced before each phase of the course and prepared in private study.
The course is made up of four phases, each entailing four workdays between January and September 2017 at Hanns Eisler School of Music Berlin. The prerequisites for the studies are a completed university degree or equivalent graduation and at least one year of work experience as a choir conductor. Participants are actively involved in technical lessons and form the practice choir for students. Furthermore, a contract choir is temporarily made available in each module, as well as the Deutsches Filmorchester Babelsberg in the symphonic choir phase. Participation is possible as a guest student (2nd to 4th course phase) as well.
