Erasmus Incomings

We are pleased that you are interested in studying at Hanns Eisler as part of an ERASMUS+ exchange program. You already know what ERASMUS+ is and how it works. Still we have summarized some information that may be useful for you in starting your studies at Hanns Eisler. If you cannot find the information you require, please contact us.

Application

A personal application at our school is not possible. Please inquire at the international office at your university if there is an ERASMUS+ cooperation between your university and Hanns Eisler School of Music Berlin. There you will obtain the application documents and all other necessary information. Please contact your university promptly as you can only apply at Hanns Eisler once each year.

Application deadline is always 31/3 for the academic year beginning in October.

Application documents must include:

  • the Application Form
  • the Learning Agreement
  • a CV
  • a CD with three pieces of different styles totalling approximately 30 minutes playing time. A CD is still required, even if you have performed or will perform for a professor!
  • Transcript of Records
  • DVD (music theater direction only)
  • proof of practical training in case you have completed one (music theater direction only)

Please note that incomplete applications cannot be processed.

Language requirements

Classes at Hanns Eisler are held in German. A prerequisite for successful studies and a satisfying stay is a sufficient level of German or English covering at least level of B 1. You can attend courses in German as a foreign language at Hanns Eisler School of Music Berlin to improve your language skills.

Credits

Studies at our school are conducted through the bachelor-master system and are awarded points using the European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS)

Learning Agreement

The Learning Agreement should list all the classes at our school which you wish and are required to visit.

As European universities dictate different compulsory modules for graduation in bachelor and master programs, it can become difficult to find suitable modules during an ERASMUS+ exchange. For this reason, Hanns Eisler offers special ERASMUS+ curricula for:

Strings / Harp / Wind / Percussion
Piano / Guitar / Lied Interpretation for Pianists
Orchestra Conducting / Choir Conducting / Correpetition
Composition / Historical and Contemporary Compositional Technique
Voice

Please choose the desired subjects and fill in the Learning Agreement accordingly. Further subjects cannot generally be offered.

If changes to the originally nominated study program occur upon beginning your exchange studies, please contact your home university immediately and inquire as to their conditions.
