International Applicants

Krankenversicherung – Health Insurance

Proof of health insurance is a requirement for enrollment.

Students from EU member states, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland who are insured with a public health insurer in the home country should promptly apply for the European Health Insurance Card (EHIC). The card allows for medical treatment in the case of illness.

You can also apply for German public health insurance (at a cost). The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) offers international students coming to Germany, for instance those in the ERASMUS+ program, a bundled insurance package (health, accident, personal liability). More information in the downloadable DAAD brochure.
