The Eisler Sinfonietta student ensemble will perform Mahler's Sixth Symphony in Klaus Simon's version, conducted by Manuel Nawri. A concert introduction with Prof. Jörg Mainka will take place at 6 p.m. in KMS I.

At the end of a private chamber music session in social institutions, clinics, retirement homes and primary schools, the students play a public chamber concert at the school.

Bachelor's student Vincent Ong from Prof. Eldar Nebolsin's class won fifth prize worth €25,000 at the 19th International Fryderyk Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw.

Nationwide day of action THUR 27 NOV

With a nationwide day of action, the 24 state music universities in Germany are taking a stand against discrimination and abuse of power – with numerous workshops for university members as well as events open to the public.

Anniversary semester kicks off

The Eisler will begin its anniversary year in the winter semester of 2025/26 and celebrate its 75th anniversary with numerous musical highlights.

Engagement

Graduate Annie Jacobs-Perkins will join the Ensemble Modern in 2026. After completing her master's degree in cello with Prof. Troels Svane, she is currently studying chamber music with the Trio Brontë under Prof. Jonathan Aner.

Directing Competition

Director and Eisler graduate Dennis Krauß was awarded the 14th European Opera Directing Prize (EOP) in Geneva. His award-winning production of The Tales of Hoffmann will be performed at the Hessian State Theatre in Wiesbaden in 2026/27.

The Coburg State Theatre selected a concept by Lea Willeke (director) and Bina Zinsmeister (set design) for its directing competition ‘L'elisir d'amore’.

Competition

Jeonghwan Kim won first prize at the Bartók World Competition 2025 at the Liszt Academy in Budapest. Gorka Plada was awarded second prize. They study in the piano classes of Prof. Konrad Maria Engel and Prof. Eldar Nebolsin.

Orbituary

It is with deep gratitude that we remember our former colleague, bassoonist Prof. Klaus Thunemann, who passed away on 29 August 2025 at the age of 88.

Alumni News

Double bassist Pablo Santa Cruz, member of the Konzerthaus Orchestra Berlin, has been appointed professor at the University of Music, Drama and Media Hanover.

On its 75th anniversary, Eisler receives a generous donation of nearly €200,000 from the Stiftung am Grunewald foundation, securing funding for several anniversary events in the winter semester 25|26.

Eisler alumna Sarah Christian will be appointed professor of violin at the Munich University of Music and Performing Arts in the 2025/26 winter semester. She studied with Prof. Antje Weithaas at the Eisler.
