Daniel Dubrovsky wins the horn post in the Tonhalle Orchestra Zurich
The Austrian horn player Daniel Dubrovsky has been appointed to the position of bass horn in the renowned Tonhalle Orchestra Zurich and will begin his probationary period there in September 2026. Born in 1998 into a family of musicians in Vienna, he began playing the horn at the age of eight. He initially studied at the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz before moving to Berlin in 2017 to study under Prof. Marie-Luise Neunecker at the Eisler School. Since 2020, he has been taught by Prof. Sibylle Mahni.
Daniel Dubrovsky is currently a member of the Kammerakademie Potsdam. He has gained further orchestral experience with, amongst others, the Bamberg Symphony Orchestra, the Orchestra of the Deutsche Oper Berlin, the hr-Sinfonieorchester, the Saarbrücken Radio Philharmonic and the Vienna Symphony Orchestra. From 2021 to 2024, he was a member of the Anhaltische Philharmonie Dessau. His interest in historical performance practice led him early on to the natural horn and to renowned early music ensembles such as the Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin, Les Musiciens du Prince – Monaco and the Bach Consort Wien. He was also a member of the Zermatt Festival Academy and the Schleswig-Holstein Festival Orchestra.
During his musical training, he received funding as a scholarship holder from the Villa Musica Rhineland-Palatinate State Foundation and the Yehudi Menuhin Live Music Now Berlin Association, as well as through the Germany Scholarship.
