Fedir Sheiko wins first prize at the IPV competition

In November, Ukrainian bachelor's student Fedir Sheiko won first prize in the IPV competition for tenor and bass trombone. The final round of the International Trombone Association competition took place in Stuttgart. Fedir Sheiko won both first prize for tenor trombone and the special prize for the best interpretation of the commissioned work ‘The Mixed Suite’ by Ewa Fabianska-Jelinska.
Fedir Sheiko (20) studies in Prof. Louise Pollock's trombone class, having previously been taught at the municipal conservatories in Ljubljana and Kyiv. The trombonist plays in the Junge Deutsche Philharmonie and the Ukrainian Youth Orchestra, which recently toured Europe under the baton of Oksana Lyniv. In 2025, he also won first prize at the Varaždin Woodwind & Brass Competition 2025 in Croatia. Fedir is a scholarship holder of the Lucia Loeser Foundation.
