Georgii Moroz wins first prize at the 2026 International Violin Competition in Singapore

The 24-year-old Ukrainian violinist Georgii Moroz was awarded first prize at the International Violin Competition in Singapore, which comes with a prize money of $50,000. He is completing his master's degree at the Eisler Academy under Prof. Antje Weithaas. He also received the chamber music prize, which is sponsored by Vivien Goh with $3,000. The finalists performed with the Singapore Symphony Orchestra and Joshua Tan at the National University of Singapore.

Two other Eisler students also emerged successful from this violin competition in Singapore. The jury awarded fifth prize to South Korean violinist SongHa Choi from Prof. Kolja Blacher's class and sixth prize to violinist Qingzhu Weng, who is studying for his Konzertexamen with Prof. Antje Weithaas.

The prizes include concert engagements with the Singapore Symphony Orchestra, the Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra, the Macao Orchestra and the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra. The finalists will also receive valuable violins on loan for three years.

Georgii Moroz, born in Kyiv in 2001, received his early musical training at the Lysenko State Music Lyceum with Olha Korinets. He completed his bachelor's degree at the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music in Singapore with Prof. Qian Zhou and completed his master's degree with Prof. Antje Weithaas at the Eisler. He is a prize winner of the XII International Jean Sibelius Competition (2022) in Helsinki, winner of first prize at the 9th Munetsugu Angel Violin Competition (2023) in Nagoya, Japan, and won third place at the Alberto Lysy Violin Competition (2024) in Gstaad, Switzerland. He was a semi-finalist at the Queen Elisabeth Violin Competition in 2024.
