The Clara Trio has won second prize, worth 6,000 euros, at this year’s Premio Trio di Trieste international chamber music competition. The prestigious competition took place in Trieste, Italy, from 12 to 16 September 2026 and celebrated its 30th anniversary this year.

The piano trio was founded by Martina Consonni (violin), Sarah Jégou-Sageman (piano) and Anouchka Hack (cello) in the summer of 2024. The three graduates of the Kronberg Academy have been studying as an ensemble on the Master’s programme in Chamber Music at the Centre for Chamber Music in Prof. Jonathan Aner’s class since the summer term of 2026.

The three musicians were mentored by the French cellist Gautier Capuçon. The trio received further artistic guidance from Krzysztof Chorzelski (Belcea Quartet), Gary Hoffman, Adrian Brendel and Bruno Giuranna. Whilst studying at the Barenboim-Said Academy in Berlin from 2018 to 2020, Anouchka Hack and Sarah Jégou-Sageman performed in a piano trio as well as in many other chamber music projects.

As early as 2025, the ensemble won first prize at the chamber music competition of the Virtuoso & Belcanto Festival in Lucca, Italy. The trio’s concert appearances have taken them to venues including the Bechstein Hall at the Casals Forum Kronberg, the DYNAMIKfest Salzburg and the Ascoli Piceno Festival in Italy.

In March 2027, Trio Clara will perform works by Emilie Mayer and Ludwig van Beethoven at the Espresso Concert in the Konzerthaus Berlin. Espresso concert 24 March, 2026
