Malaysian pianist and bachelor's student Vincent Ong won the 5th prize worth €25,000 at the 19th International Fryderyk Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw. The jury awarded him the prize, which is financed by the Polish Minister of Foreign Affairs, together with Polish pianist Piotr Alexewicz. The International Fryderyk Chopin Piano Competition is considered one of the most prestigious music competitions in the world. It has been held in Warsaw since 1927 and takes place every five years.

Vincent Ong (24) has been studying at the Eisler since 2023 and has won significant prizes at international piano competitions, including the Taipei Maestro Piano Festival in Taiwan, the International Piano Competition in Singapore and, most recently, the traditional Robert Schumann Competition in Zwickau in 2024. Vincent Ong is supported at the Hanns Eisler School of Music Berlin by a Lucia Loeser scholarship.

An Eisler alumnus from Prof. Eldar Nebolsin's piano class was already successful in the last Chopin Competition: Slovenian pianist Alexander Gadjiev won second prize in the prestigious competition in 2021.
