1st prize for Vincent Ong at the Robert Schumann Competition

The 23-year-old Malaysian pianist Vincent Ong from Prof Eldar Nebolsin's class has won the 1st prize of €10,000 and a gold medal at the 19th International Robert Schumann Competition in Zwickau.

Vincent Ong has been studying for a Bachelor's degree at the Eisler since April 2023. As recently as December 2023, he was awarded the newly founded Maurice Ravel Piano Prize in Duisburg, having previously won several important prizes at international competitions, for example at the International Taipei Maestro Piano Festival in Taiwan and the International Piano Competition in Singapore.

The International Robert Schumann Competition is one of the most traditional music competitions in the world. It has been organised every four years since 1956 in the two categories of piano and voice and is held in Zwickau, the city of Schumann's birth.
