3rd prize in the Belvedere Singing Competition for Kangyoon Lee

Kangyoon Lee won 3rd prize at the renowned Hans Gabor Belvedere singing competition. In addition, he received an engagement at the Deutsche Oper Berlin through the competition. The South Korean tenor has been studying for a master's degree with Prof. Roman Trekel at Hanns Eisler since April 2021.

The Hans Gabor Belvedere Singing Competition brings together artistic directors and music managers from well-known European opera houses in its top-class jury. The final of the Vienna-based competition is held in a different country every year. The 39th edition of the competition was canceled in 2020 due to the corona pandemic and now continued with the finale in the Erfurt Theater. A total of 1,246 singers worldwide took part in 52 qualifying rounds. The International Hans Gabor Belvedere Singing Competition has been held annually since 1982. The winners of the last few years include Eisler alumni Sungho Kim and Slavka Zámečníková.
