Alumna Anda Kryeziu receives the Stuttgart Composition Prize 2024

Eisler alumna Anda Kryeziu has been awarded the 69th Composition Prize of the City of Stuttgart 2024. The award ceremony will take place on 9 February 2025 in Stuttgart's Theaterhaus as part of the ECLAT Festival Neue Musik. The jury awarded three equal prizes, each worth 7,000 euros. Anda Kryeziu completed her Master's degree in Electroacoustic Music with Prof. Wolfgang Heiniger at the Hanns Eisler School of Music Berlin and has also been an artistic associate at the school since 2023.

Anda Kryeziu convinced the jury with her composition ‘Infuse: Playtime’ for ensemble (2021) ‘through playfulness, in which the identities of the instruments are detached from their idiom. The intimacy and fragility of the sounds, which repeatedly try to break out, leave an enormous intensity that is hard to escape’.

Anda Kryeziu, born in Kosovo in 1993, is a composer, performer and multimedia artist. Her music has been performed at the Munich Biennale, Neue Musik Rümlingen, Darmstädter Ferienkurse, Monstra Sonora Valencia and November Music, among others. Her opera ‘PERSONA’, based on the film by Ingmar Bergman, premiered in 2023, was created in collaboration between the Basel Theatre and Gare du Nord. Anda Kryeziu has received grants and prizes, including from the Contemporary Arts Alliance Berlin and the Deutsche Bank Foundation's Akademie Musik Theater Heute.

139 participants submitted a total of 257 works for the 69th Composition Prize 2024. Members of the jury were Martina Seeber from Südwestrundfunk, Prof. Martin Schüttler, Stuttgart State University of Music and Performing Arts, Prof. Annesley Black, Prof. Markus Hechtle, composer, Samir Odeh-Tamimi, Dr Monika Pasiecznik and Boglárka Pecze.
