Successful percussion class
Omar El-Abidin, Laura Melero and Haris Dzanic from the percussion class of Prof Franz Schindlbeck, Prof Rainer Seegers, Prof Biao Li and Prof Sanja Fister are taking up positions in renowned orchestras.
Omar El-Abidin has won a permanent position as principal timpanist with the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra in Korea and will begin his probationary period there in September 2024. He previously played with the New York Youth Symphony and the Karajan Academy of the Berlin Philharmonic, among others. Laura Melero has held a permanent position as principal timpanist with the Real Orquesta Sinfonica de Sevilla since the 2023/24 season. She was also previously a scholarship holder at the Karajan Academy alongside her studies at the Eisler. Haris Dzanic received a temporary contract as principal timpanist in the orchestra of the Gerhart-Hauptmann-Theater Görlitz-Zittau, which has been running since January 2024. He previously worked as a timpanist on a temporary contract with the Osnabrück Symphony Orchestra, among others. Master's student Agostinho de Almeida Sequeira has also been teaching solo percussion at the renowned Conservatorium van Amsterdam, where he previously studied himself, since April 2024.
