Massimiliano Iezzi 2nd Kapellmeister at the Pfalztheater Kaiserslautern

The Italian pianist and conductor Massimiliano Iezzi has been second conductor at the Pfalztheater Kaiserslautern and guest repetiteur at the Vienna State Opera since the 2024/25 season. The Eisler alumnus, who completed his conducting studies with Prof. Christian Ehwald and Prof. Markus Stenz and his répétiteur studies with Prof. Alexander Vitlin, has worked at the Teatro La Fenice Venezia, the Tonhalle Zurich, the Konzerthaus Berlin, the Philharmonie Luxembourg, the Philharmonie Berlin, the Deutsche Oper Berlin and the Staatsoper Berlin.

Since 2018, Massimiliano Iezzi has conducted German and international orchestras, including the Konzerthausorchester Berlin, the Hamburg State Orchestra, the Brandenburg State Orchestra Frankfurt, the Cottbus State Orchestra, the Karlovy Vary Symphony Orchestra and the Cherubini Orchestra. Guest engagements have also taken him to the Deutsche Oper am Rhein, the Leipzig Opera and the Vienna State Opera.

Massimiliano Iezzi began playing the piano at the age of 13 and studied piano, accompaniment and orchestral conducting in Italy and at the Hanns Eisler School of Music Berlin with Prof Christian Ehwald, Prof Markus Stenz, Prof Alexander Vitlin and Prof Fabio Bidini. During his studies in Berlin, he conducted productions such as ‘Die Fledermaus’, ‘Der Rosenkavalier’ and ‘L'Heure Espagnole’. As a pianist, Iezzi has performed as a soloist with various orchestras. He performs regularly with Alexander Gadjiev, Ben Goldscheider, Filippo Gorini and others as a chamber music partner and accompanist. In 2022/2023, he worked as a repetiteur with conducting duties at the Cottbus State Theatre and as a musical assistant and repetiteur at the Bayreuth Festival. He was also engaged as Assistant Conductor to Kent Nagano at the Hamburg State Opera. In November 2023, Iezzi was one of four conductors selected from over 300 applicants for Riccardo Muti's prestigious Italian Opera Academy.
