The soprano and Eisler graduate Serena Sáenz won first prize, the audience prize and two special prizes at the renowned Montserrat Caballé International Singing Competition in Barcelona - one of the most important European singing competitions.

Anna Samuil's student finished her Masters in May 2021. From the winter semester 21/22, Serena Sáenz is studying the concert exam at the Eisler. Serena Sáenz is the first Spanish woman to win this prestigious competition. Born in Barcelona in 1994, she performed at the Gran Teatre del Liceu at the age of 13. She was a member of the Opera Studio in Barcelona and the State Opera Unter den Linden in Berlin and sang the roles of Pamina (Die Zauberflöte), Frasquita (Carmen), the Waldvogel (Siegfried) under the direction of Daniel Barenboim. Last July she made her debut - as a substitute for Nadine Sierra - in Liceu in the title role of Lucia di Lammermoor.

In addition, the Russian soprano Julia Muzychenko won second prize - since the winter semester 21 | 22 she has also been studying for a master's degree with Anna Samuil at the Eisler.
