Soloist engagement for Kangyoon Shine Lee at the Deutsche Oper Berlin
The lyric tenor Kangyoon Shine Lee has signed a soloist contract with Deutsche Oper Berlin for the 2024/25 season. The Korean singer completed his master's degree with Kammersänger Prof. Roman Trekel at the Eisler in 2023 and is currently completing his Konzertexamen in chamber music in a Liedduo with pianist Songyeon Catarina Kim under Prof. Wolfram Rieger.
Kangyoon Shine Lee has won prizes at numerous Korean competitions. In 2021, he won 3rd prize at the prestigious International Belvedere Singing Competition and received an engagement at the Deutsche Oper Berlin, where he made his house debut as Almaviva in Rossini's "Il Barbiere di Siviglia" on 27 December 2022. In the 2021/22 season, he sang in Verdi's "La Traviata" and Shostakovich's "Nose" under the direction of Ainars Rubikis at the Komische Oper Berlin. He has been invited to the "Opera Gala of Young Stars" at the Carinthian Summer in Villach, Austria. In the coming season at the Deutsche Oper Berlin, he will take on several roles in various opera productions, including Tamino in "The Magic Flute", Walther von der Vogelweide in "Tannhäuser" and Arturo in "Lucia di Lammermoor".
