Tommaso Pratola Solo Flutist in Riga and winner of Aeolus Special Price

Our graduate Tommaso Pratola has been solo flutist of the Latvian National Symphony Orchestra in Riga since the 19|20 season. He has just won the special prize for the best interpretation of a contemporary work at the Aeolus International Wind Competition in Düsseldorf.
Since April 2020 the Italian flutist has been studying chamber music master's with Prof. Martin Spangenberg at the Eisler together with the Xylinos Quintet. Before that, he completed his master's degree in flute with Silvia Careddu and Matthieu Gauci-Ancelin.

Tommaso Pratola was born in L’Aquila, Italy, in 1994, where he graduated from the Conservatory “A Casella” in 2013. After studying at the “Haute école de musique de Genéve” from 2014 to 2016, he completed his master’s degree at Hanns Eisler from until 2019. He attended numerous international master classes with William Bennet, Emmanuel Pahud, Andrea Lieberknecht and Emily Beynon, among others. His orchestral experience also took him all over the world, including the summer tours of the “European Union Youth Orchestra” in 2013, 2014 and 2016, the “Bayreuth Young Artist Festival” in summer 2015, the “Tiroler Festspielhaus” in April 2018, the “Pacific Music Festival” in 2018 and 2019 in Japan and the “Zermatt Music Festival and Academy” in summer 2018 and 2019. He was a finalist with a special prize in the 15th “George Dima” international flute competition and was in September 2017 in the “Societá Umanitaria” competition excellent in Milan. In 2010 he received a scholarship from the “Societá Umanitaria”, which enabled him to give concerts in Cologne, Luxembourg, Vilnius, Warsaw, Budapest and Bucharest.
