Yubeen Kim wins ARD Competition 2022

The 25-year-old South Korean flautist Yubeen Kim, who passed his Konzertexamen at the Eisler with Prof. Benoît Fromanger in 2022, was awarded first prize in the flute category at the 71st ARD International Competition.

After studying in Lyon and Paris, Yubeen Kim came to Berlin in 2016 to take up a position as solo flautist in the Konzerthausorchester Berlin at the age of just 19. Parallel to his orchestra work, he completed his Konzertexamen at the Hanns Eisler School of Music Berlin. He has already won several awards at renowned competitions, in 2014 he was awarded second prize at the Concours de Genève and in 2015 he was awarded first prize at the Prague Spring. He gives concerts internationally as a soloist and orchestral musician and in various chamber music formations, including with the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra, the Bochumer Symphoniker, the CNSMD Orchestra in Lyon and the Ensemble of Tokyo, as well as at well-known festivals such as the Nimus Festival, the Festival du Jura, the international Music Festival in Tongyeong.

In the prizewinners' concert of the ARD competition with the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra in the Herkulessaal of the Residenz on September 16, 2022, Yubeen Kim will once again present herself to a wide audience. The concert will be broadcast live via video stream and radio on BR Klassik
