Tobias Walenciak

  • Works as a choral conductor in Berlin with the mixed choir Bancanta, the children’s choir Vocal Heroes of the Berliner Philharmoniker, and as an assistant to Simon Halsey in the framework of the (opera) choral project of the Berliner Philharmonie
  • Served for 10 years as artistic director of the chamber choir Junges Ensemble Dresden; concert tours with the choir took him, among others, to Belarus, Lithuania, and Latvia
  • Has worked among others at the Staatsoper Berlin, the Kammeroper Rheinsberg, and the Konzerthaus Berlin, and has collaborated with conductors such as Sir Simon Rattle, Ivan Fischer, Jonathan Nott, Hans Graf, and Howard Griffiths
  • Has been involved in world premieres and premieres of works by composers such as David Lang, Jonathan Dove, Frank Schwemmer, and Justin Lépany
  • Has been connected through his work as a conductor and rehearsal coach with the Rundfunkchor Berlin, the Vocalconsort Berlin, the Vokalakademie Berlin, the Philharmonisches Chor Berlin, Cantus Domus, Consortium Vocale Berlin, and Hortus Vocalis
  • Member of the music committee of the Chorverband Berlin and a TENSO scholarship holder
  • Teaches choral conducting at the Hanns Eisler School of Music Berlin and at the University of the Arts Berlin, where he leads the University Choir
