Bernstein Trio wins Schumann Chamber Music Prize Frankfurt

The Bernstein Trio - like the Trio Brontë - continues its series of successes: Roman Tulchynsky (violin), Marei Schibilsky (cello) and Julia Stephan (piano) have now won the first prize of 8,000 euros at the International Schumann Chamber Music Prize Frankfurt 2025. In addition, the Robert Schumann Society Frankfurt awarded the special prize for the most impressive interpretation of a work by Robert Schumann or his companions (2,000 euros) to the Bernstein Trio. ‘The Bernstein Trio impressed the jury with its intimately formed, colourful sound’, said jury chairman Heime Müller in his statement.
The chamber music competition took place in the Great Hall of the Frankfurt University of Music and Performing Arts (HfMDK), which organises the Schumann Chamber Music Prize Frankfurt. The final round was held in the Mozart Hall of the Alte Oper Frankfurt.
The Bernstein Trio was founded in 2022; the three musicians met at the Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach Music High School in Berlin and are now studying at the Berlin University of the Arts and the Hanns Eisler School of Music Berlin. As an ensemble, they receive lessons from Prof. Jonathan Aner at the Eisler Centre for Chamber Music.
