The choir is one of the performing ensembles within the framework of our education concept and is made up of students. Together with the symphony orchestra, concerts and projects are realized, for example at the Konzerthaus and Berliner Dom. The choir is also involved in the school’s opera productions. Since 2002, a cappella concerts have been staged at Französische Friedrichstadtkirche.

Prof. Jörg-Peter Weigle has directed the choir since 2001: “The choir concert program has to fulfill several conditions: It should provide an opportunity for young people with trained voices and those who, for the first time in their lives, realize that the throat can be used for singing, to melt together into a nice homogenous sound. The program should be simple but musically discerning and diverse. Furthermore, the musical activity should strengthen the collective experience in the handling of music. In our work, we are constantly testing the quadrature of the circle.”
