Coronacare Emergency Help

Coronacare is a monthly emergency help that is calculated individually and paid out at the end of the month. Through Coronacare, the AStA, in cooperation with the Society of Friends and Patrons, was able to support many students of the Hanns Eisler last semester who found themselves in financial difficulty. We would like to once again encourage all of you to apply for it if you are in financial need! The application must be submitted every month. The deadline is the 20th of the current month.

However, we would also like to point out that we can only help students who cannot cover their monthly living expenses (rent, electricity, health insurance, food etc.). We unfortunately have to reject applications of people who have sufficient savings or other assets in their accounts. Coronacare is not a replacement payment for canceled concerts and jobs, but to support students in serious financial need. Please show solidarity and take this into account when you apply for Coronacare!

VERY IMPORTANT:  Until further notice and due to state’s interim financial aid, the Coronacare team will only accept applications from students whose requests for state’s interim financial aid have been rejected!
The rejection must be from the same month as the Coronacare application!

• EXCEPTION: Students in Urlaubsemester do not have to submit a rejection. Instead, proof that they are taking an Urlaubsemester must be submitted.

Here is the information for the application process:
The application is to be sent by email to stupapraesidium(at)hfm-berlin.de with the following documents; please all documents as PDF:

  • Completed application form
  • Justification for the application
  • Complete bank statements – of ALL accounts! – of the last three months before the day of application
  • Proof that the application for state’s interim financial aid has been rejected | For students in Urlaubsemester: proof that they are taking an Urlaubsemester

Incomplete applications (no proof of rejection, missing bank statements, no information on living expenses etc.) cannot be processed. You can contact us at any time if you have any questions or problems. We are always there for you!

FAQs CORONACARE

What is CORONACARE?

CORONACARE is a monthly emergency help that is calculated individually and paid out at the end of the month. We help students who cannot cover their monthly living expenses (rent, electricity, health insurance, food, …) and don't have sufficient savings or other assets in their accounts.

CORONACARE is not a replacement payment for canceled concerts and jobs, but to support students in serious financial need. Please show solidarity and take this into account when you apply for CORONACARE!

Who can apply for CORONACARE?

All students of the university who are in financial need and cannot cover their monthly living costs are allowed to apply for CORONACARE, if they can prove that their application for state’s i nterim financia l aid has been rejected .

When is the deadline?

The deadline is the 20th of the current month (incl.).

How is the application process?

The application is to be sent by email to stupapraesidium(at)hfm-berlin.de with the following documents (please all documents as PDF):

  • Completed application form
  • Justification for the application (where the financial situation is explained)
  • Complete bank statements (of ALL accounts!) of the last three months before the day of application (e.g. I applied on September 17th. Therefore I should send my bank statements of all my accounts from June 17th until September 17th).
  • NEW! Proof that the application for state’s interim financial aid has been rejected. The rejection must be from the same month as the Coronacare application → e.g. If I apply in March for a Coronacare help in April, I need to send a rejection from March. ✗ EXCEPTION: Students in Urlaubsemester do not have to submit a rejection. Instead, proof that they are taking an Urlaubsemester must be submitted.

    Incomplete applications (no proof of rejection, missing bank statements, no justification for the application, etc...) cannot be processed.

When is CORONACARE unable to help someone?

  • When someone has enough money in their account to cover the monthly costs;
  • If someone has savings or other assets in their account (or in another account);
  • If someone has not managed properly their money nor spared it → e.g. Student X has barely money at the end of the month to survive the next month. But he went to restaurants and cafés every day, spent his money in expensive stores, often took taxis and had an expensive social life. In this case, CORONACARE is NOT responsible for covering his overpriced expenses (nor any
    other expenses);
  • NEW! When there is no proof that the application for state’s interim financial aid
    has been rejected or the proof is not from the requested month.

Can CORONACARE cover other costs that are not my regular monthly living costs?

No! CORONACARE is there to help students with the costs they have each month. We cannot cover one-off or irregular costs (e.g. travel expenses, clothing, concert tickets, semester ticket fee, …).

Exception: if someone has an unexpected and important additional cost, this can be taken into account after a careful analysis of the case in particular.

I am in no financial distress and would like to support the project. How can I help my fellow students through CORONACARE?

Since CORONACARE works on a donation basis, we are always looking forward to receive some support! Even small amounts help!

Collage Concerts

AStA also supports the Collage Concerts, a series of student concerts held every Thursday at 1pm at GKS II, Neuer Marstall. We organize weekly performance opportunities for which you can easily register yourself at www.collageconcerts.wordpress.com. We encourage students of all departments to perform so as to keep the program diversified.

More information on current events organized by AStA and last minute announcements are posted in our Facebook group Asta HfM Hanns Eisler.
