Singing students successful at Cascais Opera International Singing Competition

Five Eisler singing students were honoured with prizes and engagements at the Cascais Opera International Singing Competition 2025 in Portugal.

The Chinese soprano Manhan Qi, a Master's student in Prof Renate Faltin's class, was awarded 2nd prize, which is endowed with 5,000 euros. The Ukrainian soprano Oksana Pynchuk, a Master's student in the class of Prof. Anna Samuil, was honoured with the Stage Skill Award. This prize is linked to an engagement at the National Opera Novi Sad in Serbia. The South Korean bass Jaewoung Lee, a Master's student in Prof. Thomas Quasthoff's class, received an engagement award for a performance at the Algarve International Piano Festival in the 2025/26 season. The tenor Ju Hyeok Lee from South Korea, a graduate of Prof. Roman Trekel's class, was awarded an engagement contract for the Festival Internacional de Música de Marvão 2026. The Portuguese soprano Madalena Oliveira Martins, a bachelor's student in Simon Bode's class, received an engagement at the Festival de Música de Mafra ‘Filipe de Sousa’.

The international competition organised by the Cascais Opera is aimed at up-and-coming singing talents from all over the world and was held for the second time this year. In addition to cash prizes, engagements at renowned opera and music festivals are also awarded to support the winners in their artistic development.
