Julia Muzychenko and Hanseong Yun win the Veronica Dunne International Singing Competition 2025

Two prizes went to our students at the prestigious Veronica Dunne International Singing Competition 2025 in Dublin: Russian soprano Julia Muzychenko-Greenhalgh won 1st prize and South Korean bass-baritone Hanseong Yun was awarded 3rd prize as well as special prizes. They are currently studying for their Konzertexamen with Prof Anna Samuil and Prof Anna Korondi.

The Veronica Dunne International Singing Competition takes place every three years in the Irish capital Dublin. This time, the high-calibre jury was chaired by Sir Thomas Allen and the final took place in the presence of the Irish President Michael D. Higgins. An Eisler alumna was last successful in this competition in 2016 - the Egyptian soprano Fatma Said.

Julia Muzychenko-Greenhalgh has been studying for her Master's degree with Prof. Anna Samuil since 2021 and has won numerous international singing competitions, including the Queen Elisabeth Competition and the Montserrat Caballé Singing Competition in Barcelona. The soprano already has regular engagements at major European opera houses and has sung the roles of Norina (Don Pasquale), Nanetta (Falstaff) and Gilda (Rigoletto) at the Opéra de Montpellier as well as Violetta (La Traviata) at the Verdi Festival in Busseto, at the Teatro Regio di Parma and at the Ópera de Tenerife. She appeared as Musetta (La Bohème) and Papagena (Die Zauberflöte) at the Semperoper in Dresden, as Oksana (Rimsky-Korsakov's Christmas Eve) at the Frankfurt Opera and Amina (La Sonnambula) in Clermont-Ferrand, Metz and Reims. Last season she made her debut at the Deutsche Oper Berlin as Gilda (Rigoletto).

Hanseong Yun completed his master's degree with Prof. Anna Korondi last year, the bass-baritone has also received numerous competition awards, he was a finalist at the Tenor Vinas Competition (2024), received the special prize at the Riccardo Zandonai Opera Competition (2023), 6th prize at the Seoul International Competition (2023) and 3rd prize at the Joongang Music Competition (2022). From September 2025 he will be a member of the opera studio of the Staatsoper Unter den Linden Berlin.
