Rheingau Music Prize goes to Prof Thomas Quasthoff

Prof. Thomas Quasthoff will be awarded the Rheingau Music Prize 2025 in recognition of his life's work and continued artistic brilliance. The 65-year-old has been shaping the international music world for five decades with his unique bass-baritone voice, while his tireless commitment to the Lied and his promotion of young musicians have also enriched the genre in the long term and inspired generations of artists. The Rheingau Music Prize, endowed with 10,000 euros, will be awarded for the 32nd time and the award ceremony will take place at the end of August at the Kurhaus Wiesbaden.
Prof. Quasthoff celebrated his 50th stage anniversary in 2024. He has taught at the Hanns Eisler School of Music Berlin since 2004 and regularly gives masterclasses, including at the Heidelberger Frühling, the Verbier Festival and the Schubertiade in Schwarzenberg. He is passionately committed to supporting young singers and founded the international competition ‘Das Lied’ in 2009.
The Rheingau Music Festival is one of the largest music festivals in Europe with 160 concerts throughout the Frankfurt and Wiesbaden region.
