  • Pupil at Weimar Special School for Music, subsequent studies in cello with Lieselotte Pieper at Liszt School of Music Weimar
  • Quartet lessons with Erich Vieweg and Prof. Karl Suske as well as further private studies in Berlin with Prof. Peter Vogler
  • In 1987, Artistic Assistant at Liszt School of Music Weimar
  • Member of the Nasdala Quartet from 1978 to 1988 and solo cellist with Neues Berliner Kammerorchester from 1989 to 1998
  • Subsequently solo cellist at Komische Oper Berlin
  • Solo work with Jenaer Philharmonie, Staatskapelle Weimar and the Komische Oper Berlin Orchestra
  • Solo recitals in Germany, Japan and China
  • In 1997, founding of the artenius trio with Mika Yonezawa (violin) and Katia Tchemberdji (piano), concerts in Europe and Japan
  • In 2006, first CD publication for the artenius trio with works by Maurice Ravel, Claude Debussy and Katia Tchemberdji
  • In 1977/78, prizewinner at youth music competitions in Ústí nad Orlicí and Leipzig
  • Nasdala Quartet awarded the special prize in Evian in 1983, a prize at the Maria Canals Competition in Barcelona in 1986 and the Brahms Society Prize in Baden-Baden in 1991
  • Recipient of a Mendelssohn Scholarship in 1984
  • Since 1989, teacher for cello at Hanns Eisler School of Music Berlin, appointed as Honorary Professor in 2013
