Stephan Braun

  • Received training as a classical and jazz cellist at the music academies in Hamburg and Berlin
  • Winner, including with his trio, at the International Jazz Competition in Bucharest in 2010
  • Concert appearances in Asia, North America, Africa, and Europe
  • Guest appearances worldwide on prestigious stages and at well-known festivals, among them the Staatsoper Wien, the Concertgebouw Amsterdam, the Olympia Theatre Paris, the Pori Jazzfestival in Finland, the New Directions Cello Festival in Ithaca
  • Has been involved in more than 20 CD productions
  • Concerts with celebrated musicians and ensembles, among them Melody Gardot, Nils Landgren, Till Brönner, Gil Goldstein, Giora Feidman, Don Thomson, Kristjan Randalu, Etta Scollo, the NDR Bigband, and the Berliner Ensemble
  • Since 2020: has taught jazz for string instruments at the Hanns Eisler School of Music Berlin and since 2023 „Jazzcello“ at the Bruckner University Linz
  • Regular invitations as a lecturer to cello festivals such as the Celloakademie Rutesheim, the Cellofest Klaipéda in Lithuania, and the Celloakademie Nysa in Poland
