  • Born in Meißen, Germany
  • Attended Berlin Special School for Music from 1976
  • From 1979 to 1984, double bass studies with Heinz Zimmer at Hanns Eisler School of Music Berlin and as an exchange student at Tchaikovsky Conservatory in Moscow with Lev Rakow
  • Internship with German State Opera at age 19
  • Subsequently solo bassist with Berlin Symphony Orchestra (now Konzerthausorchestra Berlin), tours through Asia, America and Europe
  • Collaboration with ensembles concertare Berlin, Bachakademie and Bachcollegium Berlin
  • Research focus on optimization of strings and instruments including cooperation with innovative string manufacturers such as SONORES
  • Artistic Director at the International Double Bass Convention “BASS2010” and committee member with BASSEUROPE
  • President of PAKINO (Educational Consortium for Double Bass) and member of the European String Teachers Association (music promotion for children and youth)
  • Coauthor of Berlin Music Council’s new teaching plan for double bass
  • 2010, appointed Ambassador for Double Bass by Berlin Music Council
  • Leading master courses in Germany and abroad as well as with various youth orchestras (including Junge Deutsche Philharmonie), jury member at international competitions
  • CD recordings of productions for Westdeutscher Rundfunk, Rundfunk Berlin-Brandenburg and Radio Moscow
  • Finalist at the International Double Bass Competition Markneukirchen 1983
