Prof. Tobias Walenciak

  • Works as a choral conductor in Berlin with the chamber choir Vocantare and the mixed choir Bancanta and as an long-standing assistant to Simon Halsey in the framework of the (opera) choral project of the Berliner Philharmonie
  • Served as artistic director of the chamber choir Junges Ensemble Dresden such as conductor of the Vokalhelden childrens choir of the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra; concert tours with took him to France, China, Belarus, Lithuania, and Latvia
  • Has worked among others at the Staatsoper Berlin, the Kammeroper Rheinsberg, and the Konzerthaus Berlin, and has collaborated with conductors such as Sir Simon Rattle, Ivan Fischer, Jonathan Nott, Hans Graf, and Howard Griffiths
  • Has been involved in world premieres and premieres of works by composers such as Charlotte Seither, Frank Schwemmer, David Lang, Jonathan Dove und Justin Lépany
  • Has been connected through his work as a conductor and rehearsal coach with the Rundfunkchor Berlin, the Vocalconsort Berlin, the Vokalakademie Berlin, the Philharmonisches Chor Berlin, Cantus Domus, Consortium Vocale Berlin and Kammerchor der Künste (UdK)
  • Member of the music committee of the Chorverband Berlin and a TENSO scholarship holder
  • Teaches choral conducting at the University of the Arts Berlin and at the Hanns Eisler School of Music Berlin, where he will take over as guest professor for the choral conducting class in the winter semester of 2022
