2nd prize of the Henri Marteau Violin Competition for Xunyue Zhang

The Chinese violinist Xunyue Zhang won the second prize, endowed with 7,500 euros, and the prize for the best Mozart interpretation at the Henri Marteau Violin Competition in Hof, Franconia. Xunyue Zhang is studying for a Bachelor's degree at the Eisler in the class of Prof. Stephan Picard. In the gala concert in the Festival Hall of the Freiheitshalle in Hof, she thrilled the audience with an interpretation of Eugène Ysaÿe's "Caprice d'après l'Étude en forme de Valse de Camille Saint-Saëns", accompanied on the piano by Tomoko Nishikawa.

The Henri Marteau Competition promotes highly talented young musicians with an extensive support programme and places great emphasis on arranging concert engagements through a network of international orchestras as well as follow-up productions with Bayerischer Rundfunk, which is the competition's media partner.
