Alumnus Guido Gärtner Director of the Bremen Philharmonic Orchestra

From March 2024, violinist and Eisler alumnus Guido Gärtner will take over as artistic director of the Bremen Philharmonic. Born in Berlin, he studied violin at the Eisler with Prof. Stephan Picard and chamber music with his string quartet with Prof. Eberhard Feltz. The 45-year-old has been a member of the second violin section since 2007 as well as orchestra manager at the Bavarian State Opera in Munich. Since 2012, he has organised and been responsible for off-duty projects and orchestra tours as managing director of the Munich orchestra's Konzert-GmbH, and has headed the in-house classical music label "Bayerische Staatsoper Recordings" since 2020.

After his diploma at the Eisler, he completed additional studies at Indiana University in Bloomington (USA) with Mauricio Fuks and was a scholarship holder of the German-American Fulbright Commission and the DAAD. In 2016, he completed the further education programme in Cultural Management with an Executive Master of Arts Administration from the University of Zurich.
