The Master student Haran Meltzer successfully auditioned for the position of 1st Solo Cellist with the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, and will appear with the orchestra during the 2020|21 concert season, which begins in October. This coming season, the director and pianist Lahav Shani – also an alumnus of the Hanns Eisler School of Music Berlin – will assume leadership of this renowned ensemble in Tel Aviv.

Currently, the Israeli cellist Haran Meltzer is studying with Prof. Claudio Bohórquez at the Hanns Eisler School of Music Berlin. Among his former teachers are Luba Rabin at the Kfar Saba Conservatory, Zvi Plesser at the Israeli Conservatory, as well as Emanuele Silvestri and Felix Nemirovsky. Haran Meltzer received 1st prize at the Domenico Gabrielli Competition (2019), the Davidov International Cello Competition (2018), the Aviv Cello Competition (2018), as well as the Lions Club National Music Competition (2012). As a chamber musician, he has appeared at various festivals, among them the Voice of Music Festival in Kfar Blum, the Perlman Music Program in New York, the Ravinia Festival in Chicago, and the Musethica Festival in Sweden and Israel. Haran Meltzer has drawn musical inspiration from master courses directed by, among others, Frans Helmerson, Gary Hoffman, Jens Peter Maintz, Wolfgang Emanuel Schmidt, Ralph Kirshbaum, Paul Katz, and Lawrence Lesser.

Beginning in 2007, Haran Meltzer has received a scholarship from the America-Israel Cultural Foundation, and plays a Giovanni Battista Guadagnini cello from the year 1754, which was loaned by the foundation.
