Öykü Canpolat-Rast Professor at the HMDK Stuttgart
Turkish violist and Eisler graduate Öykü Canpolat-Rast has been appointed professor at the Staatliche Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst Stuttgart, where she will teach the viola class from the winter semester 2023/24.
At Hanns Eisler, she first studied in the Bachelor's programme with Prof. Pauline Sachse and Prof. Friedemann Weigle, and later in the Master's programme with Prof. Tabea Zimmermann, until she graduated with top marks in 2019. From 2016 she was deputy principal violist of the Deutsche Oper Berlin Orchestra and in 2020 moved to the Gürzenich Orchestra Cologne as principal violist. Since 2022 she has also been a member of the orchestra of the Bayreuth Wagner Festival, where she is also solo or deputy principal violist.
