Luka Hauser First Kapellmeister at the Staatsoper Stuttgart

For the 2023|24 season, conductor Luka Hauser will become First Kapellmeister and assistant to General Music Director Cornelius Meister at the Stuttgart State Opera. The 25-year-old is currently studying orchestral conducting at the Eisler with Prof. Christian Ehwald and Prof. Alexander Vitlin as well as piano in the master's programme at the Berlin University of the Arts with Prof. Gottlieb Wallisch.

Born in 1997 in La Coruña, Spain, Luka Hauser received his first piano lessons at the age of five. He was a junior student at the HfM "Franz Liszt" in Weimar with Prof. Grigory Gruzman and has won prizes at international competitions such as the Concurso internacional Anton Garcia Abril in Spain, the Santa Cecilia International Competition and the Kyoto International Music Festival.

On the occasion of participating in conducting master classes, Luka Hauser conducted the Dubrovnik Symphony Orchestra and the Plovdiv State Opera Orchestra in 2017. He received further impulses at master classes with Sir Donald Runnicles in Berlin, with Danielle Gatti and the Accademia Chigiana in Siena as well as with Andrés Orozco-Estrada at the Escuela Reina Sofía in Madrid.

Luka Hauser has conducted the Brandenburg State Orchestra Frankfurt, the Karlovy Vary Symphony Orchestra, the Cottbus State Theatre Orchestra and the Philharmonie Südwestfallen as part of his studies. In 2021 he reached the semi-finals of the Tokyo International Music Competition for Conducting, where he conducted the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra.
In the 2020|21 season Luka Hauser assisted Vladimir Jurowski and the Rundfunk-Sinfonieorchester Berlin as well as at the Bayreuth Festival in the production of "Tristan und Isolde". In 2022 Luka Hauser had a temporary contract as assistant conductor at the Staatsoper Unter den Linden Berlin.

Luka Hauser is supported by several foundations, including the Lyra Foundation in Zurich, the Paul Hindemith Gesellschaft Berlin, the Geert and Lore Blanken-Schlemper Foundation and the Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation. In 2021 he founded the "Berlin Young Soloists" with string players from the HfM Hanns Eisler and UdK Berlin.

Since April 2022 he has been in the support programme of the Forum Dirigieren of the German Music Council.
